Embroidery needles are exceptionally intimate tool for the user. Some want short little needles for delicate stitching with fine threads. Others what long needles because their fingers are arthritic and they need something to hang on to. There are techniques that require straw (or Milliner) needles, too.

Most people like size SE-4 Spiral Eye Needles for basic embroidery tasks. It’s length and diameter work well with arthritic fingers, yet leaves a smaller hole that a Chenille needle.
