PONY sewing needles
The corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities of Needle Industries (India) Private Limited are located in the Nilgiri Mountain, in southern India, 2200 meters above sea level.
The Company was incorporated in 1949 as a subsidiary of a major British manufacturer of hand sewing needles, knitting pins and hard haberdashery products. Manufacturing commenced with the very simple gramophone needle.
In the 1960s and 70s the ownership of the Company was then slowly transferred into Indian hands and with this change in ownership came the introduction of the Company’s own brand PONY. Over a period of time with internally sourced funds, the product range was expanded; Hand Sewing Needles, Knitting Pins and Accessories, Snap Fasteners, Hooks & Eyes and a complete range of pins were all introduced and now constitute the bulk of manufacture.
A highly specialized and extensive range of Surgical Suture Needles was introduced in the 1960s and continues to be a growing product group for the Company.
The global success the Company has been is a result of a dedicated management team with true commitment to quality and customer service. The management team is backed by technical excellence which has enabled the company to continuously improve upon manufacturing methods thereby improving product consistency and manufacturing efficiency.
PONY Needle Industries will have a line of 100% Stainless steel hand sewing needles with traditional type eyes as well as the PONY Spiral Eye Needle.
Stainless steel needles are unique and important for lots of reasons:
What is the difference between Pam's Original Spiral Eye Needles and PONY Spiral Eye Needles?
TOP: PONY Spiral Eye Needles will be made in India using traditional needle manufacturing processes so the blank needle are stamped and then cut. This gives a smaller diameter profile at the eye than Pam's Original Spiral Eye Needle.
BOTTOM: Pam's Original Spiral Eye Needles are made in Minnesota out of surgical grade stainless steel using a machine that creates a tapered blank needle which then gets the eye cut into it. This means the diameter of these needles gets larger as it gets closer to the eye.
